Personal branding is just that, personal. This process pushed me to reflect on myself and how to share my qualities to others. I wanted to highlight who I am as a creative professional while also expressing my personality. I realized along the way I was choosing things because others liked them. Everything I was coming up with felt a bit too plain and not quite me.
At first, I explored doing a portrait of myself as the logo. However, a direct representation of myself was too bold. Once I switched to an animal mascot the entire process felt more natural. The big-eyed slightly nervous raccoon suddenly seemed like the perfect choice for me. Raccoons are known to be curious creatures with a knack for problem-solving. While they tend to be solitary and fairly shy, they bravely venture wherever they need to go.
For my branding, I drew inspiration from printmaking, another art form I love. Blending graphic design and printmaking in my logo by embodying a stamp style. Starting with a single-color logo, similar to a stamp. Later adding two more colors but kept the palette limited to keep the stamp feeling. Finally, I scanned mulberry paper and recolored it in Photoshop to match my branding. This added a bit of texture to the branding that makes it feel more like printmaking.
