The Doctor

This piece is an intaglio-style print utilizing a solar plate matrix. A solar plate is made with a copper plate coated in UV-sensitive gelatin. I created my artwork by hand then scanned and printed the negative on a plastic film. This was laid over the matrix and exposed to UV, hardening the exposed areas. The soft areas were then washed away creating the sunken areas. The ink was forced into these areas and wiped off the raised areas. My goal with this print was to create value using a wide variety of textures and patterns.
